Dodge City Convention & Visitors Bureau to Host Annual Pheasant Hunting Contests
The Dodge City Convention & Visitors Bureau is thrilled to announce the return of the annual pheasant season hunting contests; Rooster Roundup and Bounty Bird. The 2020-2021 pheasant season begins on November 14th and will conclude on January 31, 2021. During this time, Ford County will boast an additional incentive to hunters with the release of 150 leg banded pheasants near the Ford County Walk-In Hunting Access for these two contests.
Before the start of the ’20-’21 pheasant season, 50 red leg banded birds will be released for Rooster Roundup and 100 gold leg banded birds will be released for Bounty Bird. If you are lucky enough to bag one of the leg banded pheasants, hunters will need to bring the leg band to the Dodge City Visitor Information Center to officially register for the appropriate contest and receive a gift. Rooster Roundup bands from other participating southwest Kansas counties can also be turned into the Dodge City Visitor Information Center and the hunter can register for the appropriate Rooster Roundup contest drawing. Each band registered at the Dodge City Visitor Information Center will receive a gift as well as a $20 Free Play voucher from Boot Hill Casino & Resort (if age appropriate).
Registered Rooster Roundup bands will be entered into a grand prize drawing worth $500, while Bounty Bird bands will correlate with a community prize valued over $25. All bands must be registered no later than noon on February 1, 2021. Winners will be revealed in February of 2021. Winners of the prizes will be contacted directly and prizes may either be picked up at the Dodge City Visitor Information Center or will be mailed to the winner.
