This year's art show highlights the work of fine art photographer Colleen Sternberger. hailing from Kansas, Colleen specializes in photographs of The American West. Mostly self-taught, her inspiration comes from the places she travels to and the people she meets along the way. Using her digital darkroom, she elevates her photographs with painterly qualities. Her work has won numerous awards and is included in private and corporate collections.

This talk provides a survey of Kansas cookbooks from 1874 to present, which reveal not only changes in foodways, but also poems, prayers, personal reflections, and histories. These humble publications show that food, home, and community were the foundation upon which Kansas women constructed their lives. Presented by Louise Hanson. Louise has over 400 cookbooks in her collection.

  7. Freddy's Salute the Troops Hamburger Feed and Patriotic Concert

    August 1, 6:00 PM @ Wright Park

    Come share in a night dedicated to those who serve in the armed forces of this great country! This evening will be filled with patriotism in honor of the red, white, and blue. Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers will be hosting the annual hamburger feed in the park. The first 1000 people will get either a steakburger or hotdog and a Pepsi courtesy of Freddy's and Pepsi. The Dodge City municipal Cowboy Band will entertain you with patriotic music beginning at 6:30 p.m. Event sponsors include Q-97, Z-98, Victory Electric, Kindsvater, Inc., Farmers Country Market, Jason's Appliance, and the Dodge City Area Young Professionals.

    The PRCA Xtreme Bulls tour showcases the top PRCA bull riders as they test themselves against some of the best buckling bulls in the country. This exciting event will feature 50 riders, competing for prize money and the championship buckle. Stick around for more action as some of the men from "Bullfighters Only" compete against fighting bulls for their own prize money and championship buckle.
