  1. Rooster Roundup Pheasant Hunting Contest

    November 11, 2016 - January 31, 2017 @ Dodge City (Ford County), Garden City (Finney County), Jetmore (Hodgeman County), Hugoton, (Stevens County), and Liberal (Seward County)

    Dodge City, Garden City, Hugoton, Jetmore and Liberal Kansas (Ford, Finney, Stevens, Hodgeman and Seward Counties) are pleased to announce the third annual pheasant hunting contest. During this year’s hunting season, 250 Pheasants will be banded on the leg and released in these 5 counties. If you are lucky enough to bag one of the Banded Pheasants, bring your leg band to one of the approved locations to register your leg band and claim your prize! Kansas consistently ranks as one of the top three when compared to other states' annual harvests of pheasants, and with 185,000 acres of walk in hunting land that is open to hunters in southwest Kansas, this area will give you a shot at Cash and FIVE GRAND PRIZES. Once you bring in the leg band, and get it registered, you will automatically receive a Rooster Roundup Hat and a $10.00 community prize. At that time, your leg band will be entered to win the GRAND PRIZE of $500.00 in Community Gift Certificate “Bucks” from each community.

  2. Haskell Pack Jr. Longest Tail Feather Contest

    To enter the whole bird must be presented at the check in location before tail feather is removed. Check in locations- Pawnee Valley Lodge-Jetmore CPS/Crop Production Services-Jetmore HoresThief Reservoir-Jetmore Additional locations may be added at a further date! Youth Category 11-17 yrs old with Proof of Hunter Certification required and Kansas hunting license for 16-17yr olds. The prize is a lifetime hunting license. Adult Category 18- Proof of Hunter Certification and a Kansas hunting license. Prize is a Mossberg 500 shotgun All Federal firearms regulations apply

  4. Holiday Window Decorating Contest

    November 26 - December 10 @ Downtown Dodge City

    The annual Downtown Window Decorating Contest will be held Saturday, November 26h thru Saturday, December 10th. How it Works - Stroll through the downtown area to see all the beautiful and whimsically decorated windows. Pick up your ballot from a participating downtown merchant and cast your vote for your favorite display! A random drawing will be conducted from all the ballots submitted and the winning voter will receive a bundle of downtown gift certificates!   5. Bounty Bird Pheasant Hunitng Contest

    December 1 - December 31 @ Dodge City and Ford County

    During this year’s hunting season, 250 Pheasants will be banded on the leg and released in Ford County only, near Dodge City, as the Bounty Bird contest gets underway. This contest will run in tandem with the Rooster Roundup that is currently taking place during Pheasant Season, and has been a staple in Southwest Kansas for several years now. This particular contest begins December 1st and runs through the month of December, while the Rooster Roundup runs from opening day of pheasant season until the close of the season. If you are lucky enough to bag one of the Banded Pheasants, hunters will need to read the band carefully to see if it is the Bounty Bird, or the Rooster Roundup leg band. A great opportunity for hunters, and more chances to win prizes! Hunters will need to bring the leg band to one of the approved locations to register the leg band.
