In 2020 the editors of True West magazine selected Dodge City as the winner of the Heritage Travel: Best Promotion of a Historic Place. In 2022 the Dodge City Trail of Fame was named the Heritage Travel: Best Historic Town Tour. In 2023 Dodge City was recognized as the Heritage Travel Reader’s Choice: Best Old West Gunfighter Town.
